halifax blocking my account

    If statements aren't available, signed letters from those who gave the money may help. But statements or cheque stubs would be best.

    The centre piece of the jigsaw is the wedding certificate and that has, apparently, been provided. Getting as much else in place rapidly would be the next step.

    And have the bank of Mum and Dad on hand just in case things can't be done in time.
    Why are Halifax asking for statements? Are they keeping them? What are they doing with them?
    I would expect them to retain a copy on microfilm as an audit trail to show that they are following their own anti-fraud / anti-money laundering procedures.

    I did hear of a story years ago similar situation bride's account temp. hold, Bride's father and father in law were so annoyed. They rounded up people that were at the wedding to one branch of the bank as proof wedding took place and who gave what money and then one by one asked to close their account if this matter was not sorted out there and then.

    Simple just tell them you can't produce more evidence...ask the bank manager to refer your case to the police then. 8k money laundering. Big deal....

    Unfortunately these things do happen from time to time, don't get angry (which I appreciate you have every right with the situation at hand) with the branch staff, they will have no control at all if Head Office have put a stop on the account. All they can do is act as a 'middle man' between the customer and the Fraud team, even the Branch Manager can't remove any stops etc!
    As others have said the only way to really resolve the situation is to provide Head Office with the documents they want to see, the branch should have no problems in faxing anything to them for you.
    If you ain't moved forward yet I would take everything you can pull together to your local branch and seek out a manager rather than a banking adviser who should take you to a private room and contact the Fraud team for you to get it all sorted!

    opinions4u - Not sure if I should publicly post the amount which triggers the recording of sort code, acc numbers etc for of the larger cheque deposits, might be something they like to keep hush hush from real fraudsters lol!!
