I had the same experience with Hotpoint but a totally different experience with NEFF. NEFF were brilliant - the engineer was about to retire, but he was friendly, chatty, knew his job, carried parts on his van (I know, a rarity!!) so he was able to fix the problem without having to return. I was gutted when he retired, because he was an absolute gem. Shame the same can't be said for Hotpoint - their products are deficient - I had one of their washing machines which broke down regularly every 3 - 4 months. Every time I had to wait for at least 2 weeks for an engineer, who then told me that I needed a part which, of course was not on the van and had to be ordered, so another 2 week wait. I gave up in the end, and bought a NEFF machine over a year ago and have so far had NO problems whatsoever with it.0
