House smelling of curry...

I made curried mango and lime pickles yesterday and cannot get rid of the smell...
It's lingering and seems to have permeated into every room
I've had all windows open..sprinkled bicarbof soda and hoovered every room...

is there anything i can do?

Hi, I'm new to this board but HTH. If you leave a lighted candle in the room it will get rid of the smell from cooking. Scented ones are especially good but plain old tea lights are fine.

I often leave one in the kitchen after making curry or boiling eggs. It seems to work!

A tip from my mother; place a few small bowls of hot water with a slice of lemon in each around the house!

is there something you can do whilst cooking? just for future reference..
I know a slice of melon or onion will remove fridge odours so could strategically placed onions stop this from happening next time?

Not very money saving but I buy candles from https://www.wicknwax.co.uk, they work a treat. I'm sure they are fine wth babies in the house. I have used them with my two little ones around.

When cooking fried food, you can leave a small bowl of vinegar by the cooker, and this helps remove smells, not sure if it would work with the curry or not, but could be worth a try!!! Like Norma says, boil up lemons and that will get rid of a lot of smells too. Another nice smell is to boil brown sugar and cinnamon (low heat), like the lemon, whether this will get rid of the smell or just cover it up, im not sure.

Some of the first threads in the Cleaning section of the MEGA Index sticky are about air freshening, so they might help :)

i always pound some dried lavendaer and rosemary in my pestle and mortar, the smell releases during cooking and i find reduces the aftre smell
then i sprinkle on my carpet, leave for 20mins or so them hoover it up as is great instead of shake and vac!!
