"House prices are set to rise over the next three months for the first time in two years, surveyors say".

so thats saying house prices haven't risen at ALL since all this began all those many moons ago........so whos right now?? halifax...nationwide....LR etc etc

again more rubbish because no one knows what they will do.

let them rise...fill your boots because as soon as the interest rates shoot up along with tax hikes that WILL come (and your very stupid to think they won't) then they will go only one way.......and even if they hold......repos will be massive so even better bargains to be had by the people that waited.

however at the end it does say......

Meanwhile, PricewaterhouseCoopers has warned further price falls are likely in 2009 and 2010.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

Surveyors saying prices are going to rise, surely they can't have a vested interest in the market, not like they make their living from it.... oh hang on a minute :)

Headline : House Price Rise Is 'Not Sustainable'

First line of story : House prices are set to rise over the next three months for the first time in two years, surveyors say

This is a story for everyone :j

  • Whose opinion are you going to trust more, PWC or a minority of surveyors?

I did read the whole article, just found it rather ironic that they summarised the possible short term rise (only the people with vested interest see) and then lay the blame on the lenders if things went pearshaped ;)

Quotes such as "Surveyors in some areas of the country have already reported seeing rising prices during June, with more surveyors seeing rises than falls in London, the South West and South East during the month"

I'd like to see the reasoning on how they came up with that corker, possibly a sale of a large property that totally skewed the figures. Maybe similar to one sale of a large portfolio a few years back that brought the average prices in the area to around 300k from 180k.

More none news from Sky, gimme BBC News 24 anyday.

    LOL.

Brilliant article, pretty much covers every base.

Houses prices set to rise, and set to fall, somewhere and sometime in 2009-10 we will see falls or rises.

It's like they are trying their best to give a bit of optimism, but don't want the egg on their faces.

Best thing is, if prices start to fall from now, they can point at the LR index to show they are rising!

anyone want a little bet of rises or falls in the next 9 months...i bet falls..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
