Just built new PC, but it's not working :-(

Hey guys Just spent ages putting my brothers new PC together. Looks great. Turned it on and it POSTed - great! Windows XP started loading up the basic files....then when it said starting starting Windows XP (the bit where it takes you to select the hard drive partition etc) it went to BSOD! Panic over - had to change the settings in the BIOS to "compatible mode" and it worked fine! For some reason it wouldnt recognise the SATA drive otherwise.
