"Settling down"...What is it?

Ive been thinking about this recently. Im 23 (24 in Nov) and after my birthday Im going to be actively looking to find a place with my bf, looking to start some management training at my work and have a hefty amount saved. That to me is settling down, my focus has moved from the present to the future perhaps. FYI, I dont want children and have previously only lived with my parents and friends at uni so I guess its a big change for someone who isnt into the normal route (marriage, kids etc).
But do i feel like im settling? not particularly...I feel like Im SETTLED for the moment, but who knows what the future holds?Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!Saved = 100% on 03/07/12 :j0 -
I had never really thought about this before! I suppose that 'settling down' in muy mind is when things in your life are, well more settled! You know what you are doing with your career, you know where you want to live and you know who you want to spend your life with. I am 32 and only just getting to it. I suppose for soemt he decided earlier and some later.
Maybe those people who want to live a more transient life whether it being job/house/partner therefore feel settled ina different way.
I always thought bieng 'settled down' signified boredom and and a daily monotony.....i think i do still really despite being on the right career path and living with the only man who I want to spend the rest of my life with and being happy in the hosue we live in!!!!0
