If it were me, I would walk away, simply from reading what you have experienced.

Food - not good enough, if it was a quiet night and they knew why you were there and they didn't impress you with quality food then i would end up stressing myself out about whether the food on the day would be of the quality I expect and have paid for.

waiter - chasing you to see if you have paid is a little unprofessional - surely he could have checked with the waiter who served you especially if you were only casually walking out.

I would rather use a venue not in the perfect area, but with a good quality food for my guests, than a venue in a better area with poor food.

i think if you went again, then you wouldn't be any better off as you know they will work extra hard to impress, but the doubts about the day would still be there and its extra stress you wouldn't need. If you really love the place though, I would send someone who you trust and who would give you an honest opinion of the food, and not just say it was great because they knew that would be what you wanted to hear

Good luck with your decision, i know it won't be easy. I'm quite worried now as i've paid the deposit for our venue where we're having a 4 course sit down meal and a buffet later on but i've never eaten there

Try asking on the boards at confetti, hitched, you and your wedding etc. You may need to bump the post a few times as they move pretty quick, but hopefully you will get a reply or two.

We were very lucky in that our venue was specifically for functions, weddings etc so were very well practiced in producing mass quantities of fantastic food. Good portions as well, most of us couldn't finish them!!

If it doesn't feel right, don't do it. One of the most important bits of the day is the meal and if this is not good then it does get noticed. If however they do shine on your next trial and you do book with them you could always try and wangle a discount to compensate for your concerns!

I'd be upfront a tell them you weren't happy with the meal. It wasn't just your dish which wasn't good but others in your party. How can they guarentee this isn't going to happen on your wedding day? What are they prepared to do to make sure the perform to their best? Tell them you are prepared to reconsider changing venues if they will provide you and HTB with a complimentary meal. If they stuff up again, then you'll know. Remember, YOU are the client and they need your business. Take control and be a Bridezilla if necessary!!

i have accpeted the meal and told them there needs to be a drastic improvement, I have also been upfront and told them we are now considering other venues again (have just made a booking to visit one place that looks lovely)
marc (my oh) is now really worried that they will stuff it all up on the day...so Im not the only one worried about it lol

plan is..if food is good when we go back, we will sit and talk to them about it, and ask how they plan to make sure it is good at the wedding, cus I wont be willing to accept any excuses on the day, but i have got to be honest.......they need to do something pretty drastic to turn us round now

so i have spent the morning looking for more venues to go and visit ........

well we went for our free meal last night

it was an entirely different experience to monday.......the food was more than good, it was bloody amazing!! we both ordered different things and went for quite a misture to test them out lol
but i honestly cant fault it at all, it was perfect

i had a word with them about our concerns after monday, and they explained a few problems they had had, and admitted they shouldnt have served the food, the guy that chased us apologised lol

going to talk to the wedding lady later today about it all, but Im so happy :)

i really want to have it there and now it looks like we can again whoop whoop
