Current sub prime card holder, need higher credit limit

in Credit cards
Hi
I have a Capital One card and a Vanquis card, both with £300 limit. I've had them both over a year and at first they both tried to increase my limit, I contacted them both to reduce it down as I didn't want the temptation there.
I am going on a conference to America in August and may need to use my card to guarantee the room when I arrive - even though it is fully paid for by my company, I guess this is for personal extras, even though I don't intend to spend anything more. However, neither card will have enough credit on it.
I have spoken to Capital One who say they cannot increase my limit, I don't understand why - I have paid in full on time every month and have had no credit searches bar a Tesco Premier Clubcard account (not a credit card but a pre paid shopping card). Any ideas why this might be the case - they have said that when I reduced my limit they warned me they might not be able to increase it again, which seemed fine but now I could do with it.
If this is a dead end, can anyone suggest another card I might get accepted for that might have a £1000 ish limit - my credit file is a little sketchy but much better than it was when I applied for the sub prime cards.
Thanks xx

Why not try the Flybe card, issued by Sygma bank?0

I've read things about the Flybe card but couldn't see anything about it on the Subprime thread. Maybe I'll give it a go, thanks x0

Definitely try FlyBe, my son got a £1000 initial limit, compared to £500 from Vanquis and £200 from Capital One. Good luck!0
