Hi louise yes i have to say you do recover from BR and in fact it starts a new page in a new book so to speak. you have no debts, a fresh outlook on life and dont have to worry about xyz debt collectors or robbing peter to pay paul each month. I put it all behind me and if anyone says anything i just say i dealt with that part of my life and now i am lookng to the future. my partner was really surpostive i am so luckily in that sense. Be proud you found the strength to go Br and face up to it, and if people dont see it like that then ignore them.Since i went BR i have slept better, not lived on edge and have been doing a college course in a career that i want not one that pays the debt collectors

You do recover from BR, but it does take it toll. Relationships will become strained. However I am reminded of an old Eagles song.
" You can spend all your time making money, you can spend all love making time. But if it all fell to pieces would you still be mine?"
And I guess if the person loved you, it really wouldnt matter about BR at all. Besides its how you bounce that matters. There is life after BR, and its really good.

hi well this is a nice thread, there is life after br. Im discharged and my hubby will be anyday now as its over a year since his br. We owe nothing and are very lucky as we have a council house. Not boasting but weve saved for a special holiday - were going to orlando soon.

The upside is we can answer the door, phone and all post without being afraid there might be a bailiff about to pop out!!!!

Good luck to anyone whos about to go along the BR route, it is easy at times but a year or so later you do feel better.

I'm hoping there is life after Br.. as I am soon to head that way ( currently seeing CAB advisors etc) and am surviving on hardly any sleep, and feel very down/ low about it all.. and I'd like to be able to not get the jitters whenever i open a letter that plops on my doormat!

I know there is life after Br.. someone in my family lost their business many many years ago and went br.. and they now own a house, and it's just a distant, hard memory for them :)

In the meantime.. any advice on how to get to sleep?!

Cant help but think the importance of BR to some people. To put it into prospective i do not deem it to be an important factor in life, its debt and money. Health and happiness is more important in todays life, the well being of our childeren, we have lads at war risking there lives.
Iam discharged tmrw and i feel no different than i did when i went br, its just a mistake in my life and ill get over it..!
Iam single and br may raise its head in the future if i ever meet anyone or need financial help, but hey iam healthy fit happy and still play the lottery!
If i ever find a partner ill hope she will understand and i will help myself to get my credit rating back to normal in the next 6 years.
I would say life can be even better than before Br..!
:D MOVE ALONG........ nothing to see here..!
