VAT on T Mobile Solo sim

I have two T mobile solo sims,one for me and one for my boyfriend, and am being charged VAT each month, is this right?

I spoke to someone at T Mobile, and they told me VAT shouldn't be charged, I am paying the equivilent of another sim.

Can I get the VAT back?

I also have a very poor credit rating, so cannot get a contract phone

vat is chargeable, but make sure the total price is correct- if its a non-business sim, the price is usually quoted including vat.. but most providers then break it down on your bill

They are both non business sims, I am paying twenty pounds per month per sim, which was advertised, and then they add around fourteen pounds on top.

Vat will be applied for the cost of line rental, any service charges and chargeable calls made.


You can recover vat on phones used exclusively for business purposes, but you cannot recover vat on any phone that is used solely for private purposes.

Am I correct in thinking that the 20 pounds per month is exclusive of vat?

Or does the vat only apply if you go over the limit?

Vat is changeable on all items, your limit isn't a factor.

But most of the tariffs that they sell at £20 is vat inclusive
, so on your bill will be showing up as £17 ish ( depending if full price is based on 15 or 17.5% vat)
