O2 repayment problem

About 4 months ago I realised O2 had been overcharging me for nearly a year, to the tune of nearly £80. I phoned them up and it was all dealt with and I was told I would be receiving a bank transfer for the amount. However, by mid february I still hadn't received the money. Phoned up again and this time they claimed that they can't transfer money directly into my bank account, so they would send me a cheque. When that didn't arrive, they cancelled it and sent a new one. Unsurprisingly that cheque hasn't arrived. When I phoned them yesterday they fobbed me off with "up to 28 days" nonsense even though they claimed it would take 14 days on march 16!
Is it true that they can't transfer directly into my account because that seems completely ridiculous. Also, does anyone have any ideas if I still don't recieve the cheque? (threatening them with the small claims court etc.?)

If you are an O2 direct customer then YES they can credit your bacnk account however if you bought your phone via the carphone warehouse then i'm unsure as to whether they can credit it straight into your bacnk account as you will be an indirect customer of O2 and your customer service calls are dealt with by Carphone Warehouse.
