That's great news for you beth despite the problems many others of us have had previously.

Some pepe have that the cheap wine is not very good but maybe you can recommend any you try and find to be ok?

    Cheers !

For those wondering if it's worth buying:

It really is poor quality wine in my previous experience, even at £1.99 (not forgetting that it's more like £2.50 per bottle for one case after delivery) and I'm honestly not being snobby about it - why else do they not allow you to get a refund if you don't like it?

IMHO, if you want cheap moderately drinkable plonk, you're better off going for the 3 for £10 bottles in Iceland and other supermarkets. That said, thanks to the OP for posting!

I have tried the Oakland Ridge red wine before and found it to be a smooth oaky wine, not a poor quality. My favorite is Chateneuffe Du Pappe (hope that's spelt right) so I do appreciate excellent wines. Again It is all down to individual taste. You say it is poor quality wine, have you tried them all?!!! perhaphs you have just been unlucky and chosen the wrong type for you

I'm very fond of a nice glass or two of wine but I certainly wouldn't be risking a case from this deal especially considering the very mixed reviews here. I find the best way to buy good quality wine at reasonable prices is through following the quality broadsheet recommendations. Of course it's still a matter of personal taste (some people will always love a bottle of blue nun) but at least you can expect a half decent bottle as these people have got a developed palete they use for a living. Every weekend you'll see reviews for supermarket/off licence wines in the £3.99-£5 bracket which I find are 'generally' excellent.

Hi Fairytooth I have had the oakridge red wine and found it to be fruity and smooth, also tried Volcanic Hills, Lisonja Verdejo and many more. I also went through the fiasco on the previous thread so was even more determined to get even with Virgin. Ordered 72 bottles reduced from £5.59 to £1.99 workes out at £1.46 a bottle then another 2.5% off with greasypalm and got Nectar points by using my Amex card. At this rate I can't afford not to drink!!!!!!!

The £23 ones seem to have gone now! boo and I was going to order some more!

I didn't try using a voucher, didn't want to jeapodize my getting pretty cheap wines!!! Besides with quidco, and ordering several cases the postage works out quite low per bottle.

The 1.99 wines seem now to be mostly white, only a few reds and a rose, shame as I was going to order a few more crates today - I think I'm becoming obsessed!

Personally, I think taste is personal at the end of the day, and when you've been out for a few drinks and get home late at night, taste is almost none existant!! Besides, a rough red often mellows if you chill it a bit!

I'm happy with the deal hope everyone who's ordered enjoys their wine!!

    The £23 deal is back

They are mostly whites in the case now - so no more for me, and all the seperate ones are the same.

Still, I'm keeping my peelers peeled, oh why didn't I order more ...

  • Warehouse clearance at Virgin, some previously offered at £5+

    http://www.virginwines.com/warehouse3

Just ordered mixed case of whites and roses. Note that whole cases only may be purchased, and there is a 6 quid delivery charge, but at < £30/case, has to be worth a punt ...
