As far as qualiy goes, it's all personal isn't it. I loved every bottle I got, and some of them were ones that are now discounted. I make a very good living with my taste buds, so if I like the wine, it can't be that bad.

As previous posts explain, this is less than £1.50 a bottle delivered. Thats a case for £17 if you use greasypalm. Can't complain at that price.

Fair enough, if someone wants 36 bottles of the stuff, then the delivery charge and greasypalm is spread out to make it cheaper. Personally, I've had the stuff before and it wasn't very nice. It is a personal opinion and I've no reason say anyone else is wrong to say it's alright for the price -I don't and I thought it was worth just flagging up my opinion for those who might (and I stress might) consider it £52 wasted when they start opening the wine. That's all!

I hope you're not naieve enough to believe the last sentence of what you've just posted! :p

Whether you make a good living with your taste buds is irrelevant. You like their wine and will happily buy more, so good luck to you. That doesn't mean other people will enjoy it, and it's clear upon reading the posts from other people that have tried Virgin wines that not many people loved every bottle they received

If your last sentence is correct then presumably, if you like Marmite sandwiches then everyone else in the world should like Marmite sandwiches, too? :p
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Is this actually any different to Alanshave's offer last week? I mean, are we going to try ordering the wine, get the confirmation through then get the 'oops we've stuffed up but we'll make it look like your fault' email?

The password would not go through on the £25 voucher but managed to use a £20 voucher off 36 bottles making it £1.60 a bottle.

All Chardonnay which I have tried before and is OK, I have to say a few of them are a bit rough, they came in a low end cases I bought once, its quite funny to read some of the reviews.

How did it get any awards, it's dreadful - sorry
Really rough. Would NOT recommend it. And I normally really like Costieres de Nimes.
Could not get through a glass, went down the sink

This is why nobody can tell you whether you will like a wine or not (regardless of whether they make a very good living with their taste buds or not), because we all have different tastes. I prefer the Costieres de Nimes slightly to the Cotes du Rhone, although neither are as good as the Canti Rosso or Australian Red that I buy from Tesco for just over £2 per bottle

The one that I am using for cooking (and have just tipped a bottle over some beef to marinate) is the Barbera, piccolo demonio. On the other hand my wife (who doesn't like her reds as full-bodied as me) finds the Barbera drinkable!

I just ordered 39 bottles for £63.60 incl delivery.

I got an email from them today, saying they had bottles for £1.99 so thought i'd check it out (i nearly ordered a couple of weeks ago when they were £2.99 - glad i didn't now!)

Put 26 in my basket and when i clicked on checkout it said less account balance of £20. I really have no idea where the £20 balance is from - I haven't used them for at least 3-4 years!!!

So i decided I might as well get another 13 bottles!

I was wary that they wouldn't send it for this price as it said no promotional vouchers - but i didn't enter a code, and i couldn't remove the voucher (not that i tried!) - so I paid with my JL/Waitrose "Partnership Card" as the amount always shows online straight away in "pending transactions" and sure enough the right amount has been charged.

(Didn't use egg card for 10% off as i have my anniversary BT on there!)

Oh mate - you just made my day :D
  • As far as the wine goes, I spent many months in Sicily during the mid-90s and the quality was decidedly marginal, yet improving all the time. Try the red sligthly chilled on a hot summer's day, fish straight from the market, and a glass or two of grappa to finish the evening. I also spent some time in the "Marche" region (from whence the Rosso Piceno hails) and it too is not bad. Mind you, we never paid more than about £1.50 a bottle in the supermercato! Ultimately, at these prices, what have you got to lose?! Cue another 12 bottles on OH's email!
