Daft question I know, but I have a set of 5 Dr Oetker ready to roll coloured icing and I don't want to waste them by experimenting, so i thought somebody might be able to tell me
Can I get green by kneading the blue and yellow packs together? What about pink, could I mix some white icing sugar into the red mix?52% tight0 -

Yes to the green, not really to the pink (the icing sugar will alter the structure of the icing as well as the colour. You should really add white icing to it).
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

/\ what the wise lady said! adding icing sugar will just make it really dry. You can get white ready-to-roll pretty cheaply if you want to lighten premade colours.0 -
Thanks both of you
He wants me to make him a moshi monster called fishlips out of icing for his birthday cake. I usually just put chocolate drops on them, am not very good at decoration.
I'll get some white then, as the main body of the monster is pink.52% tight0 -
If you need to add detail to the figurine, the Dr oetker tubes of writing icing aren't too expensive and are pretty good! You could also use it to write his name on the cake.0

Hi
Made millionaire shortbread last night and could really do with coming up with a good plan on how to score the chocolate so there is very little breakage when actually cutting it.
I know it is not going to go to waste if the chocolate part is not neat, but would be good for presentation. I did stand over it with the intention of socring before it set, but life overtook and then it was too late.
Has anyone got a fool proof way of doing it?A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Heat the wheel of a pizza cutter in boiling water and then shake dry and roll over the chocolate top using a little pressure.Old dog but always delighted to learn new tricks!0
