No, but those are two good things so can't be bad. Cider... good, cake... good.
Would probably need good cider ;)

ETA - actually we had the Aldi cider last week, it's not great. But their Perry was nice (same price, £1.99 2litres)
    Perry Cake?
If you want it really apple-ey I'd go for a scrumpy type.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I'd avoid the really cheap stuff - white lightening type ;) - but apart from that I'd go with whatever's on special offer: the last cider cake I made was flavoured with Savannah cider, as I won a bottle at a pub quiz, but my dad usually uses Strongbow and that's gorgeous too! (the cake, not Strongbow, that is! ;)).

Sigh - I really fancy cider cake now. :(
Back after a very long break!

Here is the recipe im going to use, but im going to use some honey in it too, because think it will work well: http://bakingforbritain.blogspot.com/2006/09/herefordshire-cider-cake.html

CCP Thanks for the info - good to know the dry stuff works well. Ive seen a scrumpy type in asda that doesnt look too bad.

    Wish me luck!

Aldi have the large bottles of Bulmers (I think it is) for 99p - not sure if it'd be enough for your recipe - sounds tasty though!

  • Is it possible to make pink cakes. Im wanting to create some cupcakes for a baby girl. (pink mix)

Also where is the best/cheapest place to buy cake toppers. Not artistic enough to make my own!

    Thanks

I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.
  • just add some red food colouring to the cake mix, only a couple of drops or so.

Yes it's dead easy. I once made raindbow cupcakes by mixing different cake mixes with different colours and layering them into cupcake cases!

Just add red food colouring till it looks as pink as you want it. The top wont look as pleasant as it will brown a little during cooking so I'd be tempted to ice all all over it.

As for cake toppers... What is it you're looking for? eBay is a great place to start and if you give us some idea we can have a hunt for you :)

Instead of buying cake toppers why not colour buttercream pink and pipe a swirl on each cake. If you want to jazz them up a bit most supermarkets sell pink sparkling sprinkles.
