What make you think the OP or I want to buy a lifetime cooker anyway? Sounds like sales talk to me.

Look at it this way: Would you prefer to buy a pair of shoes for £50 that will last you a year? Or buy a pair of shoes for £5 that will last you a month?

Sure, you buy to your means, and I am in no way saying someone should spend more than they have, but sometimes, buying cheap is a false economy...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Yes, but I think the comparison here is more like between a pair of £50 shoes and Jimmy Choos tbh.

Sorry you think my new cooker (not even plugged in yet) is cr*p although my local, independent kitchen retailer seemed to be happy enough to recommend it.

I'll have to take my chances with it however as in my kitchen space did not allow for separate built in oven and cash/sanity did not allow for £3K cooker.

But the vast majority of people dont have ££££ upfront to spend on a Lacanche cooker so it doesnt matter how much you think its worth.

No actually its all about doing the job properly and actually saving the planet's resources!

Unfortunately we live in a throw away society which is a major part of why we are in such a mess, and buying better quality appliances that are not made to just last a few years makes better sense to the consumer's pocket and helps to make less of an impact on the planet!

Oh silly me, THAT'S obviously the reason people buy Lacanche cookers - because they want to save the planet!

So you think it is right to buy an appliance and it only last 3-5 years then?

You need to have a look at the huge mountains of scrap appliances in Europe that really could be avoided, but obviously I am wasting my time and you don't care!

What I said was that people do not buy Lacanche cookers (and indeed other expensive status symbols) because they want to save the planet.

I will refer you to George Monbiot on Agas.

If people really wanted to save the planet, they would not replace their kitchens at all and a lot of your trade would be out of business.

I bet he was happy to, which one did you get and how much was it? He'll be ready and waiting for you to come back in 5 years for a new one...

getting back to the original question I have a stoves rang cooker and wouldn't recommend it. from the very beginning I have had to turn around the baking tray half way through cooking to ensure evenness - even if i use the fan oven. Ours has 2 ovens a separate grill and 5 rings including one wok burner. It does the job - just about - but if I was buying again I'd try something else. My sister has built in ovens but has 2 x separate single ovens on top of each other in a casing which works really well as normal double built in ovens are more like one and a half. I'd have had built in if i could but our kitchen is very awkward only about 10 x 12 ft with 4 doors - back cellar dining room and utility.

I doubt it as he is a kitchen designer/installer not a branch of Currys.

If you are really interested it is a Toledo 90.

I had a similar problem with my Stoves built-in oven which has just gone in the skip after 15 years service, it used to burn pizza on one side and it would be undercooked on the other, so its not just their ranges that have this problem...
