Miele Oven - Help Please?

Marg

The lock on my Miele pyrolytic oven has locked shut because there was a power cut during the cleaning process. I've tried the 'alleged' unlock it procedure which didn't work. Oven is about 7 years old.
Miele can't come until !!21st July!! and then want to charge £92 minimum call out.
Does anyone know how I get the door open?
Is it likely it can be repaired?
Or should I just go & look for a new one now & save the call out charge?
Any advice or help Please? (apart from takeaway suggestions that is)

Put a post up on http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/
There are appliance engineers on there who should be able to help you.0 -
hi,
Get the oven sorted out, don't replace it as it is not even through half its life expectancy yet.0 -
Is this any good
To switch the system lock off call up
and confirm "off".
The oven can now be used.
– Note: If the system lock is activated
for more than 4 days, the oven clock
will have to be reset
Been looking on internet and it might be the thermostat . Its a expensive oven i pay to get it fixed0 -
Marg have you still not managed to open door ?0

No - Thank you for asking!
(The information you supplied doesn't appear to refer to my oven.)
It looks like I'm resolved to my fate with the visiting engineer. Woe betide him if he comes and is unable to help as I can't see what he'll be able to do to access it.
The Customer Services helpline were pretty unimpressive and wouldn't let my electrician speak to their engineer.0 -
Oh looks like its going to be a big bill and still you have to wait for 21st .0

Hi,
Try asking Miele if they have an authorised local independent service engineer near you. They will be trained to the same level as Miele's own engineers and will be able to react much quicker. Miele usually use their independents when their call out times get a bit extended!
I don't suppose you are anywhere near Hertfordshire? If you are then we use Bews Electrical in Stotfold and they are excellent and a bit cheaper than Miele also.
Good luck.0 -
CKDesigner - Thank you for your advice - OH is just about to phone our 'local' Miele shop! Sadly, I live in Lancashire.0
