You don’t need to take any further tests if you have a full UK driving licence taken before 1st February 2001. Otherwise you will need to take a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) test.0

If you hold a current CBT when you pass your car test you are upgraded to a full moped licence0

Thanks scbk, does anyone know the largest bike you can ride if you did pass your test before feb 2001 without doing a CBT?Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Without a CBT the biggest you can ride is a moped, which is a 50cc restristed to 30mph0

If you do a CBT you can ride a 125 on L plates. Which is a proper bike that can keep up with A road traffic, not a hairdryer.

Are you sure about that I thought that was for those who passed their test after 2001 and who have had a new licence issued since that date. (IE I have to have a new licence issued each 3 years due to former medical problem so I come under the new restrictions.) If you passed your test prior to that date and have not had a new licence issued then limited to 125cc with or without CBT.
Have not looked at the rules recently so could be well wrong on that.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
I have a feeling you're right there, but I'm really not sure. Are you sure about that I thought that was for those who passed their test after 2001 and who have had a new licence issued since that date. im pretty sure that you have to take your CBT every 3 years or whatever it is, the exemption for pre 2001 drivers was the expiring provisional that they dabbled with for a few years.saving for more holidays0
