personal number scam??
I've had a few missed calls recently that I didn't recognise that I rang back & couldn't get a answer & forgot about them and I reckon its these numbers. I'm new to mobiles can you get charged for ringing numbers that don't ring back.
Is there anything i can do about it?
thanks experts

Yes dont ring numbers back you dont recognise!!!
Personal Numbers look like mobile numbers, but are easily spotted because they start 070.0 -
Ok so whats a personal number?0

i use a personal mumber
i have a ''proper'' mobile number that i only really give to my family or friends and i have a 'personal' number that i give to bussiness contacts or companys that may need to get in touch with me .
the advantage ot the personal number is that i can divert it to any other number at no cost to me ... ie the number can connect to my home or office or (usually) my mobile . it also means i dont need to change bussiness cards or stationay every time i change numbers.
usually these only get charged at standard mobile rates to the caller but with inclusive calls these numbers are usually charged and are not included in ur minuites
like mobile gossip said they normally start 070 so if you see this prefix u know u will bw charged for the call
hoppe this helps

Personal numbers are almost the mobile equivelant of 0870. Most telcos will charge a lot more to phone these, considering the telco that owns the number can afford to forward it to another mobile and make commision.0

Rather more than standard mobiles actually, or stuck in a time warp with charges from about 1994. Call charges can be 12.5p to 50p per minute from landlines, and are rarely cheaper than about 35p from mobilesmaster_blaster wrote:usually these only get charged at standard mobile rates to the caller but with inclusive calls these numbers are usually charged and are not included in ur minuites

I have just received my latest bill from Orange. I have a charge for this premium number service - 43p for 11 seconds.
I do not even recall using my phone that day, and I never ring back numbers that I do not recognise. But for 43p I cannot be bothered to ring orange, who would charge me for the call to them.
I will keep a close check on my bill in future.0
