No Claims Protection enables you to keep your number of years' No Claims discount if you have an accident. I'd say it was useful. Legal costs is useful if you need free legal backing on a motor-related problem. It could save you a lot of money in the right (or wrong) circumstances."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0

No Claim Discount Protection is a bit misleading, you may think that you can make a claim and your insurance won't go up at renewal time. This is not the case, after you make a claim you are considered a greater risk and your base premium will rise to reflect this. If you have NCDP this will be applied to the new, much higher, base premium so you WILL pay more.
This happened to me, I made a small, £600, no blame claim but at renewal my insurance almost doubled, I tried to shop around but no one would touch me as I had made a claim in the last year !!
Having said that I pay the extra to protect mine, I just wanted to point out the short comings of NCDP.0 -
Depends how much they want to charge for NCD rotection, you can then try to work out the difference. Not all insurers load the premium after an accident (as detailed in the previous message)but often you won't know until it happens. Probably an extra 10% on the premium would be reasonable.
I think insurers charge too much for Legal Protection and there are companies that will offer this post accident as long as they can recover their expenses. It depends if you are happy to live with the risk.
