Train Journey
Hi Everyone
I desperately need help with a train journey.
I need to get from Warwick to Waterloo to have an appointment at the St Thomas hosp (well the childrens hosp on that site).
I've been looking at the train website and have got it to £210. but can anyone get it any cheaper.
I've also wondered about driving part way but worry about the parking (some suggested driving to High Wickham)
Has anyone got any opinions?

I think you mean High Wycombe. Have you considered driving to Milton Keynes and getting the train from there? Driving from Warwick to MK is a doddle from Warwick."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
When are you going? How many are going? Ages? Any railcards?0
-
Parking is dodgy at High Wycombe. Further in at Beaconsfield or Gerrards Cross should be OK.
Unless there's a whole gaggle of you I can't get anywhere near £210 from Warwick
An off peak day return is £35 including tube travel. At peak hours that's £86.
Worth checking out e-ticketing at http://ticketing.chilternrailways.co.uk/ as well0 -
Going on wednesday, 2 adults, 1 child, no railcards.
Would I find parking at the station in Milton Keynes and would it be expensive?

I think the problem is that I need to be at the hosp for 10 am, that means getting the train at 7.30 ish. so cheap return is out.
dzug1 that link is useful, thanks. will probably go with chiltern rail - £87.50 there, £12.50 back. just need to sort the underground thing out0 -
Buy a family railcard (£26 for a year).
The £215 fare becomes £130 (for 2 adults + 1 child), and you can travel on any train via High Wycombe.
Or if you go to Marylebone instead of Waterloo, just £64 (depends on which return train you get) using Chiltern.0 -

It also reduces the chiltern e-ticket price to £52.85 and (say) £15.10 so better still.
Odd though - I though FF railcards were not valid on morning peak trains in London and the South east0 -
No, you are wrong. Those quoted railcard fares are valid.0
-
You can use family railcards at any time except for peaktime journeys wholly within the London and South east area, or South West trains to Waterloo.
Warwick isn't in the restricted area.0
