Cheap internet and phone calls FROM America?

I have to go to America for three weeks in January.

Does anybody know the cheapest way of calling the UK from the US? eg. something equivalent to 18866 or 1899?

Also, how do I use the internet whilst in America? I do NOT want to use AOL! Is there a company anyone can recommend that will provide one month of unlimited dial-up access? (I assume I'll be restricted to dial-up from a hotel room).

For the internet, you will find a lot of hotels in the US (even cheap ones) now have free WiFi Internet, so make sure you have a Wifi card in your laptop before you go. The last time I was there, my hotel didnt have wifi, but I found I could get onto the internet by connecting to the signals from the nearby Holiday Inn.

For phone calls, you can buy cheap international phone cards from any drugstore over there. I'm not too sure of the exact rates, but I bought a $20 one that seemed to last a long time.
