Problem with unlocked phone with 3 sim

Nokia 6300 originally locked to Orange

Got it unlocked - tried with O2 and 3 contract sim at the time - worked fine

Used with O2 sim afterwards worked fine

got a 3 PAYG sim for free skype but it doesn't work says incompatible handset

any ideas?

The Nokia 6300 isn't 3G, Three haven't let none 3G handsets on their network for about a years now.
