Ring up your telephone provider and see if they can help you."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

A Google search shows it to be from Kitchens Direct.
EDIT 17:20 15/4/06.
Had yet another call from them on my mobile last night - and managed to get there quick enough to answer it this time.
Had great fun with the girl who first came on the line and, when I said I was interested, she was so flumoxed (sp?) that she had to go away and get a supervisor!
He got suspicious because, in my best Village People voice, I was so keen and said, "Is this a wind up?" at one stage.
I, of course, replied, "Are you telling me this is a wind up?"
Anyway, it turned out he somehow knew my name (no, I hadn't given it) but had a wild variation of my address (so I didn't have to use the bogus one I had ready). Anyway, I didn't correct that but kept him strung along for a good while until he actually managed to ask what should have been one of his first questions, "Do you own the property?"
Of course I replied, "No, it's Council" - and he lost interest for some reason!
I then went through the 'TPS' and 'Offence' bit as I asked him his name and, to give him his due, he gave it to me whilst apologising for having troubled me and promising to delete my number from their database immediately (yeah, right).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Easier still, phone 0800 916 55 44 and follow the voice prompts on the completely automated system (to get free Caller Display from BT and to register with the Telephone Preference Service during the same call).Weymouth_Man wrote:Have you had a look this, hope it helps.

I'm just longing to be able to get to the phone in time to speak to them so I can arrange an appointment - for an address I know well (Old Bill Villa, Old Bill Street, Old Billsville).
Kitchens Direct (MKD Holdings) have already had their wrist slapped by Ofcom re silent calls.
Anyone getting silent calls complain to Ofcom here:http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/nuisance/silent/0 -
I got your drift in the first place. Very PC. :cool:0

Theres a new bugg hitting the publics home phones down south,..
1. The phone rings, you pick it up and its a dead line, curiously you return the call and a recorded message tells you that you have called through to Kitchen Direct.
No, curiously you don't return the call, stupidity you may return the call.
Come on people, if you don't know the number, NEVER ring it back, if it's important they will call you, remember back to before CLID, you couldn't call back then!
I NEVER call I number back I don't know, it's common sense. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Its not a new thing its been happening for ages.
If you dont recognise the number dont call it back. Simple as that.0
