tesco: 5 @ 30 but 4 only cost 22p!

just a quick lesson in why you should read the receipt before leaving...

I bought loads of things which are similar products but in different flavours (cat food, options sachets, special k bars, pasta etc)... all not too high in price difference but still there is a difference (2p-10p).

the lady on the check out put each type of food put through as 4@ £X.XX and 2@ £X.XX... overall she added around £1 to the bill, as I'd got so many things where tesco charge 2-8p more/less for each flavour!

I shop at tescos for similar products around 4 times a week... the odd £1's here and there would soon add up!

Weirdly she didn't put any through at a lower price multiple, which was odd, although I guess it's luck of which she put through the till first.

I noticed something at Tesco the other day. The Tesco cheap brand block of cheese was priced at £4.81/kg. However, the same cheese, only grated, cost £3.94/kg (it comes in 500g bags at £1.97 each).

Odd how the grated stuff costs less than the blocks.

yes and mamite is cheaper in the little jars than in a big jar! So I bought 4 little jars for 10p less than the equivalent in a big jar.

If I have similars at different prices, I always present the cheapest ones first on the conveyor belt just in case I get lucky and they grab the first and then press the multiple button on the till :)

Sugar can be cheaper in small bags than in the big ones, too!

They all do it, 4 loose tins of Branston spaghetti were about 15p cheaper than a 4 pack. Must be the plastic wrapper.LOL.

Probably because its not all cheese. I have a bag in the fridge (not Tesco own brand) and Potato Starch is listed as an ingrediant
