Could Adobe 7 cause slow computer?

My mum has a brand new comp windows xp. She never downloads anythng big or plays games or anything. She has just installed the new version of Adobe Acrobat and her comp is as slow as anything (dial-up by the way). Could Adobe be the problem?

Uninstall it and see what happens.
If that was the problem install an earlier version.

I have heard that Celeron's can be really slow.

Alternatively ditch the bloated Adobe Acrobat and install Foxit pdf reader (free) from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/

I've no complaints after having used it for some time.

She needs at least 512mb to run XP with any sense of speed

well I am going to give the foxit pdf reader a go,Im fed up with pdf's opening when I click on them and slowing everything down to a crawl.
Ive got plenty of memory on mine,AMD 2200 , big harddrive and adobe acrobat 6 so will give it a try!

Theres a program to speed up adobe here

I don't know if it support version 7 yet.

I was going to give it a shot but I think I'll give foxit a try
