Caxtonfx global traveller card (for use in Turkey)

Has anybody used the Caxtonfx global traveller card? Their doesnt appear to be any fees for using this card abroad which i would use to get Turkish Lira out of ATMs.Anybody got anything good or bad to say about this card?

I've got one - used it fine in Istanbul three weeks ago - and I am off to Italy in a couple of weeks. I can't find anything bad to say about it - it was easy to get, easy to load and the customer service people are intelligent and helpful. I've got a fairfax euro card but don't use it anymore because you can't get to speak to anyone on the phone without being charged a fortune and can't use it outside euro without big fees.

I'd suggest you get one and see how you get on. Best of luck!

I have got the Caxton Euro card and we found it easy to load and their CS very good and knowledgable when we phoned them.

Just give FairFX a call on 020 7329 7333 - that number gets you straight through and it's free.

Also, the Caxon price matching guarantee is worthless against the FairFX card because they say that they don't match prices against competitors who normally charge for a card (even through you can get your FairFX card for free through the travel money link on this site).

FairFX do not charge for out-of-currency use, which means that if you use your FairFX euro card in Turkey, the only charge you will get is the Mastercard charge which is about 0.25% of the currency spread.

Even though FairFX charge for ATM withdrawals it's only $2, so as long as if you take your cash out in bigger lump sums you're better off with them because of the exchange rates.

I'm sticking with FairFX unless someone can tell me better. :money:

Eh? I'm not sure you understand this properly - either that or you are trying to confuse the issue. Fairfax charge you a currency conversion fee when you load the card in dollars or euros. they then charge you an ATM fee of €1.50 or $2 when you take money out. As far as I can work out it only takes around two or three atm withdrawals to make it a lot worse value than the caxton card. At least caxton is being transparent.

Talking of hiding stuff in the small print, I have just had a trawl of the fairfax site and could not find the info you just gave. you seem to know quite a lot about Fairfax - do you work for them?
