Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 11th July! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning everyone.
I can't believe I am the first one on here today. Are all of you lucky people having a lie in?!!Thank you for all the birthday wishes for DD yesterday. We had a lovely day yesterday. It was drizzly rain all morning and then shortly after the ceremony it stopped and was lovely and warm :D It didn't start to rain until 6pm then when the last guests went. I can't believe people stayed so long, must have been having a good time clearly! Melissa was a star during the ceremony, she didn't cry at all (not even when she was baptised). She was a bit grizzly during the party but she'd not had her proper nap routine etc and she was a mite warm in her beautiful dress. I promise pics when my H has loaded them on the PC (can't do that on this laptop grrrr).
Food we'd made went down a treat and there aren't many leftovers. My mini pizzas (english muffins, tom puree and cheese) we well liked apparantly :D. So all the hard work was worth it. Still feel really tired, I never really sat down yesterday (apart from in Church) so feel a bit wore out today.
Have a friends christening to go to this morning so will try and relax whilst I am there.
Have to phone a potential new client about some work later. I am not the only childminder shes ringing so will have to see if this actually turns into some work for me. Cross your fingers for me.........
Not much OS for me (have done enough home baking this week ;)) so will try and chill a bit today. Just need to mop the floors and vac in the aftermath of having 9 kids running around the house!!!!
Have a good Sunday OS or not.

PS. meant to say:
Redruby - poor your and your OH. I hope your feeling much better really soon.
Bargin Rzl - hope you had a lovely birthday yesterday
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.
Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars

Morning Bitsy and all who follow!

Ive been up most the night with joint/muscle pain. Just waiting for the nurse. This weather doesnt help much as it's very damp here. Ive even put the GCH on for an hr to dry the air a little.

Not been up to much the past few days. Have got my list and mealplan organised for holiday. The Tourist board kindly sent me some brochures for free or cheap things to do and wheelchair friendly places-so thats kind of them!

Today, I must get my head around my essay as Ive already been given an extension but with the new treatment, my head is all over the place and unable to focus. Its 3000 words, which isnt too bad but have to include ALOT of info with basic plain speaking.

DD has her chores to do today and OH has some ironing. House clean and tidy. WM is on ATM with bedding and towels.

Dinner today is HM Pie, Roasties, Carrots, Broad Beans, Yorkies & Peas.

Anyway, must get ready for the nurse.

    Have a good day Guys!

    Good morning

Bitsey - glad yesterday went so well, looking forward to seeing pics.
Redruby - hope you're feeling better this morning. What a rotten thing to happen, but at least you're ok which is the most important thing.
Pen Pin - good luck with the essay

Have been up for a while but didn't know how to start a thread so browsed elsewhere and left it to the experts :D.
Definitely need to do some OS stuff today as we are back at work tomorrow. I need to make bread, cakes, flapjacks, cook ham for sandwiches, and mealplan for the week.

Have a lovely day everyone, will catch up later

Am making Italian brisket today for tea, am doing some bacon and egg sarnies soon for breakfast...once OH gets up....he was up until 1 30am building 3 computers from parts he has collected:o..reckons they are ready to sell so may get some money back for all the hours he has been on with it.
Had a migraine yesterday but with DS to look after, no chance of resting...he had me making dances up with him to Off the Wall album:rotfl:..good job OH wasnt in he thinks we are a pair of nutters.
Next week I am going to get my calendar and diary out and plan everyday of DS school hols:eek:....it has to be done..he cant cope of he doesnt know what is happening at the start of everyday so it is by far the easiest way of doing it. Also going to meal plan out the whole of the 6 weeks as I wont get a chance once he is off.
We are not going on proper hols, just my parents in Edinburgh as DS cant do proper hols as such....i have to send a Sainsbugs order to my mum for the day we arrive so we know all the right food/brands etc are there for DS.
May get some of our brocolli cooked today for first time:T
Bitsy glad yesterday went well. Enjoy the rest today and good luck with the potential client
RedRuby hope you are both ok and thank the lord DD wasnt in the back of the van!....I take it OH needs it for work...someone broke into OHs van a while back and broke all the locks and ruined the alarm system...it took a week to sort it and as he is self employed he lost a weeks work.

    hope everyone has good days

    Morning all,

Thanks again for all the good wishes you are a lovely lot :D NPM yes he does use the van for work, but the insurance company are sending out a courtesy car tomorrow, and coming to check his van, so he will have to take tomorrow off, but its only one day. Funny enough we were in town looking at a new car for him when we got hit , so if his gets written off, its not all bad.

Nice fresh day here, my lower back is a little bit sore, but nothing I cant cope with, I want to take little dog out for a run today, she missed her walk yesterday with all the excitement. Also need to hoover and mop floors, and change bed, and that will do for today.

Roast pork for dinner for OH and I, dd will have the veg and potatoes, with some veggie sausages.

NPM, your lad sounds delightful I love hearing about him.

Bitsy, glad the day went well xx

    Have good days all xx

Halight good luck for today xx

    Morning All

(((hugs))) Redruby & OH, hope you havnt woken too stiff this morning

Halight - good luck at the medical.

Had a good day in London yesterday but the weather was horrible - very wet drizzly rain. Managed to treat myself in Paperchase - 1 notebook, 1 recipe book and a set of notelets. DD & her friend treated themselves too. Also got a few bits from Lush. Dinner in Chinatown was lovely as usual and much cheaper than eating a chinese locally.

Today woke feeling urghh, think its maybe the weather - very very damp here. Meant to be going to a barbeque for friends dd's 21st later - hope it brightens up for them.

Will be clearing the ironing mountain this morning, doing next weeks menu plan and online tesco shop - though if I dont need much will try and shop locally. When I stop buying packed lunch stuff over the holidays the cost seems to go down quite a bit.

Not sure if I need to cook dinner today - will be a rummage in the freezer if so.

    Have a great Sunday.

    Good Morning chums .
A bit of a damp start here in North Kent, but its brightening up as I speak.Went to dinner last night at my DDs, and we had a great night afterwards as we all played cards, even the little one. The boys love to have cards or board games, even though they have their computer games.I think its because we all sit around the big dining table and chat as well.We were all remembering our poetry that we had learned at school. My 9 year old grandson thought it was cool that his Mum and his Granny could recite The Owl and the !!!!!cat almost word perfect together. He seemed so suprised as I think he thought that we had never been to school as he has and had to learn things off by heart. So all the boys recited something they had learned.
My DD calls it a 'family night' when we all get together and they boys get a chance to air their views on different things. Very noisy but a lot of fun.
We have finished Katie's bedroom so she will have a nice suprise when she comes home from her holiday. Its a complete makeover and looks like a young ladies room now instead of a junk room. I will take her to choose a rug for by her bed next week after she has got over her jet-lag. We have all missed her even her brother Ben, who fights and argues with her all the time.
Ben's gone fishing today so he will be out all day. I have a little painting to do as I seemed to have caught the decorating bug, and have a small shelf that need smartening up.Then this afternoon I will be off to my DD's again as I help the boys with their homework. I might knock up a batch of twink's cookies before I go as they seem to vanish at the speed of light when the little ones see them.Hope everyone has a great day
    Cheers JackieO

    Morning all,

long time no see.... been MIA for a few weeks finishing (and getting!!) a 2:1 degree :j So as soon as I am registered with the professional body I can call myself a qualified social worker. My graduation ceremony in 2 weeks which I am really looking forwards to. Have a job all lined up for the autumn as well, working 4 days a week with 11-16 year olds. In the meantime I've been taking a chance to relax, catch up with friends & went to Champneys last week which was lovely...
Feels like such a long time since I've been here (it is!) and other than skimming through today's/yesterday's threads, no idea what's been going on.

Redruby - ouch :( Hope you & OH feel less sore soon & very lucky you didn't have your DD with you.
Halight - hope the medical goes ok.
:hello: MSDiva, Mioliere, Aussie, Dorry and everyone else!

Belated birthday & anniversary wishes to all those I have missed & (((((hugs)))))) for everyone needing them.

Despite being at home for the past few weeks, the OSing has slipped a little, but now I feel more revived I am determined to get myself sorted again. Mum cooking the roast today as my little sis is over from Bognor for the weekend though. Today I need to:

    Unload/load DW
Put a load or 2 in the WM & hang outside to smell lovely & fresh
    Tidy kitchen worktops
    Mop kitchen floor
    Hoover/sweep downstairs
Make some cake/flapjack or something for packed lunch treats for one DD next week.
Meal Plan!!!! (haven't done this for months & spending a bomb as a result...)

Have a lovely day everyone. xx
