Can you get your dress taken OUT?

I have put on nearly a stone in weight since first buying my dress... it was purchased online and fitted brilliantly when i first got it.

However, i have had it put on properly tonight with the help of my sister-in law who has done up the corset back and i cant get it done up!

I have approx 2-3cm gap in the fabric at the back ( the panel bit that goes behind the lace up) as i have put on so much weight.

I am devasted as i only have 6 weeks to go before i get married and as it stands, i look awful. I have no idea how i have put on so much weight and i have no chance of losing it in time for the big day.

My question is, what are my options? Can i get extra fabric added in... the bodice is highly embellished, so i imagine it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to do this without it looking stupid. Or can i get it taken out?

I plan on finding a seamstress on Monday, but am i asking the impossible?

Please help

You could lose a stone in 6 weeks easily if you put your mind to it. :)

I agree with aliasojo, you could lose the weight in 6 weeks if your strict.

I can't answer your question about the dress, you'd be better to ask Linda about it. I'm sure she'll be along soon!

Keep your chin up, I'm sure you'll look fabulous in 6 weeks!

Get rid of the carbs, particularly bread and potatoes and get out there running. 2lb a week is more than achievable.

I honestly dont think i can lose the weight in 6 weeks... it took me 9 months to lose 4 lb. I was extremely strict and exercised daily. I have been to the doctors and they cant find anything wrong... i just find it very difficult to lose any weight, hence the desperate plea for dressmaking help!

Well if there is nothing wrong it's pretty simple. You just need to go into calorie defecit. :)

It's not always about what you eat either, it's very much how much you eat. Salad and veg should be restricted to about 125g and the same for meat.

What is your typical days food?

i think dressmakers can let out a dress by about an inch. they could also possibly add side panels, but this may spoil the look of the dress.

have you tried cutting carbs?, this can make such a difference. i haven't eaten bread for about 6 months.

6 weeks is plenty of time to make a difference. even walking will help.

try wearing a bin bag under your clothes when you go for a walk or exercise (sounds mad i know) but the sweat will be dripping off you.

have you had your thyroid checked? this may be why you find weight loss hard.

If it's only the panel behind the lace up that's the problem, I would have thought something could be done to make the panel bigger.

I still think losing weight is the better option though. Whatever you've done before, dont do again...as it obviously didn't work if you only lost 4lbs in 9 months. Consider low carbing/Atkins. If you can get past the first 3 - 4 days, you will drop the pounds easily.

    Typical days food:

Breakfast: 2 weetabix, skimmed milk ( no sugar/sweetener)

Lunch: Tuna sandwich ( 2 x wholemeal bread, Extra low fat mayo, 1/2 can tuna and cucumber) Mullerlight yoghurt and a satsuma

Dinner: Chicken or fish with fresh veg and a small jacket potato ( with extra light flora)

I dont snack between meals. I have cut out sweets/chocolate.

My Calorie intake is approx 1400-1500 a day. I dont know what else i can do. I have tried weightwatchers/slimming world and lost the grand total of 6lb over nearly 18 months (that was nearly 2 years ago). I did try the atkins and lost 5 lb in one week... then the whole lot went straight back on over the next 4 weeks, despite sticking with the plan religiously
