RBS Key account question.

Yes Benoit RBS and Natwest are getting shot of maestro and solo debit cards so all cards will be visa debit cards very soon.

I understand RBS customers will be from 15/08 and Natwest will be from 05/09.

You dont need to apply you will get one automatically on expiry of you old card.

Id wait until the cards are in circulation then ring up and ask for a replacement card and youll get the new visa debit card.

As the account opening team may send you a decline letter. You may even get decline letter before youve even sent your application back

I would recommend when opening an account with RBS/Natwest to do it in branch rather than online/phone.

As if you do get declined the branch manager has the authority to override the decison, Where as if you do it online/phone once its declined its declined.

RBS are a very misleading bank, I applied for a basic bank accoount and then was declined upon signing and returning the paperwork, when I rang and asked why they said thei basic account is a current account what kind of rubbish is that. I had the same with nationwide, and halifax, talk about misleading people.
