Capital One...Sooooo RUDE!!

I had a letter from Cap One saying I was over my limit which I found odd as I pay more than the min amount each month and have not used the card in ages(it just has a £400 limit) I thought I had about £280 ish outstanding on it. So I went to log in to my account on line but seemed I had got my user name wrong so ended up having to call them. I was put straight through to collections who said I had to pay the outstanding £12 that was due, I said I wanted to access my on line statements first as I was concerned that my card may have been used fraudulently, and wanted to see what was going on. He than cut me off!! So I rang back again and was told until I paid the £12 they wouldn't re-set up online username!! I said that I didn't want to pay anything into that account until I could see what had been going on and if they wouldn't let me access it online, could they please send me a paper statement then.....she said no & hung up on me!! I rang back a further 3 times and each time was met with very rude staff who refused to give me their names, refused to put me through to a manager when I asked and kept putting the phone down on me!!

How do I check to see if my card has been used if I can't get a statement from them!! Surely by law they have to provide me with a statement either by paper or on line.....

I find that very strange. I have online access, though not used it for ages, but I have always also got paper statements.

If I ever have had any issues, and phoned them, they have been perfectly polite.

I've had problems too with them, the moment you go over your limit your access to your account is normally denied( how can you pay your bill if you have no access!!)
