Hi,
Im off to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday flying with Qatar, and apparently the flight is quite full, now the though of being stuck with the baby on my lap for all those hours really doesnt sit well with me
so was wondering if anyone had any tips on how I may be able to get upgraded (without paying £1k)
Ther is an online check in facility, but thought if I do this may lessen my chances, but then I dont want to check in at the desk and then me and the family are all scattered from where everyone else has checked in online.
Normally I would be too chicken to even ask, but hey no harm in trying I suppose
Thanks.
HB

If you do a search there has been many threads about trying to get an upgrade. Maybe get some tips from there but now days it just dont happen ( especially if you have a baby i dout that would be appreciated in 1st class with all the people who have payed so much lol) so only choice would be to pay.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥0 -
highly unlikely unless you have very good frequent flyer status with the airline, even then, with babies in tow I doubt it.0

Your chances are pretty much nil with a baby. Those passengers who have paid thousands wouldn't appreciate a crying baby disturbing their peace.0

Hand over a large sum of money0

I wouldn't say your chances are nil; with a baby I'd say that they are below zero!
I take it you've booked economy? If so there may be business class on board and it's more likely that biz passengers will be upgraded first. The man without a signature.0 -

The only way the OP will get an upgrade is if; the plane is overbooked and QR ask for a volunteer to take the next flight. Sometimes the airlines will upgrade a passenger as well as provide compensation.0 -
Darn that baby! Teehee.
There was a time me and family were going nigeria (it was 10 years ago I admit) and big son at the time was 1 and we got upgraded to 1st with virgin (goodness knows why, but I didnt ask or argue) , as I said was 10years ago..lol
Anyhoo thanks folks, will go back to my packing

They may very well have a ban on children under a certain age using the First/Business class cabins as well.
I wouldn't bother to even ask - unless you were a very valued customer of the airline, it's just not going to happen. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

If they accept the booking, of course. If your child looks like it can't behave in First Class, then they may very well be refused entry - and you can be certain that the T&C's will contain clauses allowing them to do just that - probably with a full refund.
Taking a child into First is sheer stupidity anyway. From Poland...with love.
