Bad credit!!

I have bad credit and cannot find a company to give me a credit card! How am I supposed to improve my credit when I can't get any. I have a car loan, which I have paid religiously for the past two years. My bad credit stemmed from two mobile phone contracts that were not paid, therefore I defaulted on these credit agreements. I have put a notice of correction on my credit file as I was in university - but this doesn't seem to have helped. Any ideas?

  • Bad credit will drop off your file after 6 years, make sure the default date is correct.

Unfortunately you defaulted on two accounts, prime lenders dont lend to those with defaults.

    Try reading this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1626277

Your defaults drop off 6yrs after default date (+1day) and you have no grounds to argue unenforceability as service providers don't conform to CCA.

You have to sit-and-wait unless you can prove you appealed the amounts or disputed the charges in which case action could be enforced.

As far as I know, being at university is not considered a valid reason for not making payments.

Another person who thinks the world is against them because lenders won't let them have credit they can't afford.......

You have bad credit because you defaulted, you say you can't improve your rating because you can't get any yet in the same breath you say you have a car loan (which is credit!!!!).

IMO a notice of correction does more harm than good.
If you had the debt (it doesn't matter how it came about or why you didn't pay it back) then you defaulted - learn from this and the rest of your life can be run the MSE way ie banks do you a favour not the other way round.
