    IMO a notice of correction does more harm than good..

    Correct - means that each lender will have to manually assess your application which generally means you'll never get instant decisions and they certainly cannot decline you online - only downside to this is that usually you have an underwriter assessing everything and they are strict..

    NOC's don't really do what they are supposed to do which is to give the lender an idea as to why you're querying the data on your credit report - they, however, see this as a bad thing and usually (more often than not) decline you manually anyway!

    Catch 22.....

    A user from the sub-prime thread had NOC's, removed them and got a credit card even with a default so proves that they can be avoided without too much detriment...
