thank you in advance to anyone who contributes - & don't worry about giving as much as some - on paper i have got a few sponsors for £1 or less, every little helps & if everyone gave even 10p it would soon add up! don't forget gift aid adds 28% aswell (i think that amount is right!)
edit - checked & it is - u have to be a taxpayer though.
oh, dorsetmiss, good luck with your treatment!Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0 -
dorsetmiss, I wish you well, good luck.
Good luck to everyone doing the race for life, and for those of you worried about it being your first race, dont worry, if I can do it anyone can. Its great fun, and yes there are serious runners who start the race off, but there is also lot of women who will run a bit, walk a bit, cry a bit and laugh a lot, its great fun, and emotional too. Have fun.

I too am doing the Race for Life. Only my 2nd one this year, but last year was full of emotion. The lady who did the aerobics warm up in ours had breast cancer (for the 2nd time) - she didnt mention this whilst she was exercising and getting us all warmed up. It was afterwards she said that she was undergoing treatment and her hair was starting to fall out, and her biggest fear at that moment was her ponytail flying off into the crowds in the middle of the warm up. Well, that started us all off! It made me feel good knowing I had raised money, and it made me get off my bum and do some running. I really enjoyed it. Best of luck to everyone - I must remember my tissues this year!! xx0

Good luck to everyone who has entered so far - there are still places at some of the venues around the country and the first events start the first weekend in May - so if you are still wondering whether to try this event for the first time - you have nothing to lose!
To enter all that you have to do is visit the official website and look at the drop down lists for dates/venues. Those which still have places are shown in black type. You can go to the entry form here.
There is a fee to enter, which covers the admin fees for the event itself so that all of the sponsorship money raised goes to the charity. Once you have entered you can set up an online sponsorship form if you wish and you will also receive a paper form through the post, along with your unique number to wear in the event. You will also recieve an 'In memory' and an 'In celebration' sign to wear on your back. Also included are details of how to reach the event as well as other useful information.
There is the opportunity to purchase special 2006 Race for Life tee shirts and pink baseball caps during the ordering process.
If the title 'RACE for Life' is worrying you - please don't let it - it genuinely IS an event for all women of all ages, sizes and abilities! No prize for first place - everyone who takes part receives a medal and a goodie bag at the end and the cheers are there for everyone! The emotional atmosphere is incredible.
The real reward is knowing that by spending an hour or so of your time on a Sunday morning or a weekday evening you will have helped to give others the chance of life.

I took part in my first race last year. It was a great event.
We turned it into a family fun day. My mum, Aunt, Cousin, Cousin-in-Law, Cousin-in-laws sister, and their 3 mates all ran /walked / jogged with red faces.
My DH, DD, Dad, Uncle, Cousins and all of their other halve and kids turned out to watch us. We took a picnic and a sun tent and had a brilliant day. A lot of members of our families died through cancer and we were able to remember them with a smile in our hearts. Both my mum and my aunt suffered from cancefr when I was younger and I believe that if we didn't have cancer research they wouldn't be here.
My website is HERE
As many people have stated it is not the amount you donate it is the fact you are donating and at the end of the day it all adds up. Every penny counts and it is going to a really worthwhile cause.
Good luck to everyone and anyone who is doing the run at Newcastle look out for me, I'll be the one with the red face and out of breath :rotfl:Newtonlot on an MSE mission0
