Looking for a car with high seating
I have back and knee problems. Have a 1996 mondeo which is a struggle to get out of. Have a use of a MPV (Mazda 5) which is easy to get in and out. Lovely car. I am now looking for a car with a high seating position so it is easy for me to get out. Getting in is not that much problem. naturally would have gone for a MPV like a Zafira but MPV commands a high price compared to a normal car like the astra.
It needs to seat up to 5, mainly children. Due to low annual mileage it can be a petrol. Reliable. Cost less than £5k. Do not want a 4x4. Looking at the autotrader there are cars which disappear in the background, cars you don't think of much like the nissan almera tino or mazda premacy. Ideally would like a 'popular' car so parts will be easy to obtain. Any suggestions?

I don't know a lot about it but was just recently reading about the Nissan Qashqai which is supposed to offer the feel of a high seated 4x4 without the actual cost.
Some people with back problems were singing its praises.

You'll never get a Qashqai for less than £5k!
Tino and Premacy are highly praised - all that's lacking is image.
Try a C-Max, Meriva, Fusion. £5k will get you into a petrol Zafira too.The man without a signature.0 -
almera tino is the most reliable car in its class, + it is underpriced by about £1k
zafira's are excellent cars too, but I think the nissan is the smart choice and I like the fact it has a kinda non-image0 -
Would recommend the Fusion - my hip, wife's knee, no probs !0

Fusion was the first thing that crossed my mind as well.0

Mercedes Benz A Class is higher because the engine is mounted under the car. I have a B Class and it is fab - like 4x4 seating but without the crap fuel economy. Don't think you'll get one for £5k though.0

I have all the probs named with a replaced hip and back problems and I have a Zafira... they are not expensive and I found its the most comfortable with wide doors and easy getting in and out. I have had two and had no problems with them at all.. very reliable and cheap to maintain.. the extra 2 seats in the boot are excellent and when not in use give you a really versatile car with enormous boot space.... my grandkids love it in the back..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Honda Jazz easily the best choice. Tino has the roadholding of an icecube! and Premacy turns a smooth road into a cobbled street - terrible ride. Scenic's break - especially the expensive bits like the engine! C-max is a revelation to drive but early ones had poor reliability.0
