Well, if you don't mind command line only, then sshd is a pretty good way to go. You can always use a GUI app if it's just accessing files you want to use aswell. Using SSH/SCP has the advantage that you can access it from almost any system, since SSH apps have been ported to almost every platform.

VNC server could do the job too, it has a java applet so that you can access your PC from a web browser. A bit less secure unless you tunnel it through SSH but good enough for most uses.
