current account with linked pots

Hi all, :hello:

I'm new here, but thought this would be a great place to get an answer to my query.

Basically, I'm looking for a current account I can manage online, that is linked to other online pots of monet that are visible from the one interface. So, I can quickly and easily move money from my main current account to a pot earmarked, say, for xmas & birthdays, or one for car expenses. I'd like to set up automatic transfers too- makes managing a while lot easer. Ideally, the other pots would attract a decent rate of interest. :o

I have this at the moment with Barclays, albeit with no interest, but I am utterly fed up with the low quality of their customer service that I really want to move to somewhere nicer.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Best wishes,

Alex.

There is A&L Premium Direct Current account (6% for the first £2500) that can be linked to its Online Saver Issue 5 (3.15 % upto 2 mil). As the 6% rate on the current a/c is fixed for 1 year, be prepared to move after that.

You can open a savings account with Egg - and then use the Egg Money Manager to view all your accounts from other institutions in one interface. Most banks are covered - it remembers your user details for each bank and lets you log straight into them.

  • Hi

I like the idea of Egg Money Manager, I was about to apply until I discovered that Egg are part of Citi Group as they are one of my creditors, do any other banks have a similar service

first direct offer Internet Banking Plus that provide an overview other financial accounts that you have populated - seems though you will not be able to make any traansactions from any of the a/cs. There is a long list of available organisations. The service is free and you do not need to be a first direct customer to use it. Not tried it personally, but if you do, do let us know how you get on.

and you can have many of them and name them as you wish (hols, xmas, car, kids, ...)
just the interest is paid only once a year which is pity
  • I have a NatWest current account and when I log in to online banking I can see my current account, ISA and e-savings all in one place which is very handy.

Not 100% sure on this, but I think you can have more than one e-savings account and name them - 'Xmas', 'Holiday' etc.

The OP wanted a decent rate of interest. Unfortunately that rules out Nationwide.

The people who provide Egg with their MM service have their own service which is available. Can't bloody remember what its called though. I think YorkshireBoy uses it though so hoping he is lurking...

But whats wrong with using Excel Spreadsheet?

So if your bank has £2000 in it have a spreadsheet like this-

    Xmas: £200
    Car: £1000
    X: £100
    Y: £500
    Z: £200

    Total: £2000
