Upgrading a company phone. (Vodafone)
Options
My partners mobile phone is his work phone, his old one is falling apart now, on speaking to the lady at his office who deals with that kind of stuff she said the best they could give him was some basic model which he isnt keen on. He wants a blackberry. He is happy to pay for the phone but the person at the office who does that kind of thing said she doesnt think that vodafone will do that. I'm sure that any business would be happy to take someones money if they are offering it.
Does anyone know if he can speak to vodafone directly to sort out an upgrade or if it has to be done through his company. If he can speak to vodafone who would he need to speak to? Sorry to ask such simple questions but if I can get some info for him he might actually do something!
Thanks for your help!

Contract will be with his company not him, so the only way is to get one by himself (either pay his own contract or Sim Free) is to pay out money and swap it without telling the company.
Depending on the business contract they may pay a very low rental but a lot for the calls, but if the phone is old Vodafone will usually sell you a new phone. (note sell not give as an upgrade is more usualy on business contracts). Company policy m,ay be to just take basic phones to keep costs down (although I suspect upper management have better phones as they can justify it to themselves).
It's also worth considering what tariff he's on theres little use getting a blackbery if the tariff won't support data, or has very high data costs, again that would be between his company and vodafone depending on his contract. His company may also have a policy on blackberrys or not and he may or may not qualify.
Long and short is he needs to go through the person in his office, it's woprks phone, line and contract not his, sorry0 -
His work email either may not be BB compatible or they may not want to make it compatible. And as gjchester says above, to make the BB work data bundles would have to be added to the acc and his work may not want to pay for them. . .0

Thanks very much foor that! I'll tell him to speak to the office person again and see if she can do anything if not then he will just have to consider something else!
Thanks again0
