  • I spent ages looking for a place to find the details on the new booster seat regulations, considering the high profile campaigns the Gov. do for drink driving and wearing seatbelts (for adults) you'd have thought the least they could do would be some newspaper adds or maybe a TV advert.

The best place I have come across for facts is http://www.booster-seat.co.uk and http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4781511.stm.

It'll be interesting to see if the police take any action regarding this, with the amount of loop holes in place I think it'll be quite hard to prosecute.

Yes I have heard of it. I have also been aware of current legislation for the past 11 years. My DD complained she was the only one of her friends still using a booster seat at 10 but she wasn't tall enough so she had to continue to use it for safety.

I do know that most of my friends abandoned the use of booster seats by the time the kids were 5 as they didn't like sitting on them.
Can anyone tell me whether there is a maximum height for a child to be in a booster seat? My daughter is one of the very few that loves hers and is coming up for 135cm's, when is it unsafe for her to use a booster seat? I've tried looking on all the government websites and also emailing them but to no avail please can someone out there help???
  • The law is up to 135cm but ROSPA and Britax recommend that children up to 150cm should remain in booster seats.

Does anyone know if this car seat protection is OK and lawful to use? I found out about this product on BBC2's Dragen's Den program, budding busness people pitch their ideas to millionsaire investors in a hope for them to invest in their idea.

Anyway is this car seatbelt holder safe for children. If it is then I would buy it and keep it in my bag for anytime while travelling and I am offered a lift with my son.

The rules says that age 4+ needs to have a booster seat .. what about this device?

  • I remember watching that programme and thinking that his device would be no use as children now have to have a booster seat up to the height or age level.
If you were using it in a friend's car and werwe stopped by the police I do not think it would be clased as aceptable.

it would be better than nothing if you needed a taxi for some reason. might also be useful for a smaller child if the booster seat doesn't raise them high enough for the belt to be comfortable.

I think there is an exemption for occassional or unplanned journeys?

Either way, I would say it's better than nothing for the odd journey as well.
