Cut your losses now, this has the potential to drag out for years, with no guarantee it'll work in your favour.

    pinkshoes you are hilarious.

2+ years ago when we were allowed to debate the forthcoming crash in house prices on here you used to say exactly the same thing.

Have you not learned yet that people don't need crytsal balls, they just need to be well informed.

Well given I've just had my 2 bed newbuild flat  valued for a re-mortgage at 3.5% more than we paid for it 2 years (no, not an estate agent valuation - i know many people who are struggling to remortgage due to price drops in their area), then I would say that I am correct in saying that markets are postcode specific, and unless you live in and know a specific owner well, you can't comment on or predict the prices.

THAT, my dear boy, is common sense. Of course people need to be well informed - they need to know that you can't judge a housing market generally.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

They're being pretty cynical here, and it does seem they're hoping you'll give up and go away under a combination of FUD and emotional blackmail.

I think it's time for you to tell them you will entertain no further correspondence and call their bluff. You've made a series of very reasonable offers, they're essentially telling you that it's on their terms or nothing. I think in reality they know the score and would probably back down under imminent legal action.
  • ILW on the previous page made a very good point about another buyer possibly waiting in the wings - remember that you thought that might be the case a while back?

A better offer might allow them to cover your expenses (the paltry amount they hope you will accept) and give enough LTV to take on the new mortgage.

Just the minor detail of getting rid of you first...

You might notice that the only people advising you to cut your losses all signed up to this site in July 2009. You might also want to stop letting us all know your thoughts on this, just give us the facts. I'm sure "they" are watching.

Anyway, in your position I can say 100% for sure that I'd...

    Take
    them
    to
    the
    cleaners
    (and then some)

It's not just the right thing to do, it'll mean much less chance of this horrific ordeal happening to others in the local area as news spreads.

That's exactly what the vendors want them to do. You're not one of them by any chance are you lol? For example, I don't think anyone mentioned family break up, apart from you. And why would Welsh Wolfs be responsible for that (supposed) family break up?

What I was trying to highlight by mentioning 'family break up' is the unheaval on both sides that all people will be involved in. Yes, the vendors are clearly in the wrong, it makes a mockery of the whole 'buying and selling' legalitites.

WW, if you decide to proceed with the legal route will you not have to rent anyway, although you state you can't due to circumstances? Where will you live?

They are trying emotional blackmail - I think I would be looking to add loss of (hubby's) earnings aswell. They haven't taken into considerartion any of the effects this is having on your life and family, yet have the front to bleat about theirs, when they must have known the situation before contracts were exchanged and could have pulled out but chose not to.
If I was in a position financially (and mentally!) to take this all the way, I would - they deserve a great big bloody nose and I hope they get it.
Maybe as it is a village where you know people, they could start loudly talking about that dreadful couple who have caused so many problems by not meeting their obligations and moving out. Heat up their kitchen, so to speak ;)

WW already has a property she is living in, that is 4 hours drive away from this property. She planned to rent it out. Her OH works from home and had planned to move his practice to the new area and part of the new house would have been for his business ofiices/rooms. The house they have bought is very specific to their needs. All i nthe early part of the thread.

I think you have no choice but to proceed to court as anything else will now always leave you wondering what might have been. Good Luck with it.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

    In their current house.
If I remember correctly they are not selling their current house.
