MOT Failed 10 day sup yesterday

Hi all brief outline

MOT expires on the 22nd July

Took car to garage on the 24th June for MOT
Told same day car failed on rust, and was told it needed to be done before the 9th July..
Rang a day later and asked them when I could book in for work and res-test told to bring it on 7th July which I did, rang yesterday for update told there was a problem at the garage (not to do with my car)
Rang today to see when I can collect, told it would be fine.. then just got call at 3.30pm, to say they had gone over 10 day period and will be re-tested, I said well I bought it in on the dates you told me to, she apologised and said it was a mix up, I asked will I have to pay for two tests they dont know, but I can probably get it at 5 today..

Grrrrr so angry with the garage, after I'd taken their advice on dates etc.. do you think they will charge me a second test (I know they legally could)

Rant over x

I would politely say that you feel it is their responsibility. I would do this face-to-face rather than over the phone when you go to collect the car. Also, try going as late as possible and just before they close as they are less likely to argue the point because they will want to go home.

Worst case scenario, you could say you will pay 50% of the second MOT; however I would be inclined to hold out.

    Good luck.

If you need to, tell them that you have used them for years and that you would appreciate it if they would show a loyal customer and pregnant lady, some goodwill.

I'm sure you'll get a positive outcome. If not put up their phone number and we can all contact them on your behalf (joke).

Let us know how it goes.

I think he means he fancies a ten day sup (or bender) when he puts his car in for an MOT :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We wouldn't charge - esp as the work was underway. But then we are rather saintly... :D:D:D

If they did the work, I suspect it would be done FOC especially as it was their delay.

However if it left their site/they didn't carry out repairs, they would charge a 50% retest fee, inside 10 days, and you'd expect them to stand by the 10 days as they delayed it, so my money is on the standard 50% retest fee.
