Thanks Tunesurfer for posting this - agree with Mandi you will be my post of the month too. Had a great day lots to see and the racing was really exciting.
We were on the grass near to the old bridge for most of the afternoon and then went to the bit where you could see them start but look back to Dunlop bridge to see them screaming down the straight. Hope you have another great day Savvy and anyone else who is staying for tomorrow.

We've had a fab day. My 2yo has had the time of his life and didn't want to come home. The highlight was standing at the starting point for the Formula Renault 3.5 race. Then noise and vibrations from the cars were amazing, worth going just for that.:j

Unfortunatley we can't go tomorrow as I'd love to do it all again.

Edit.....savvy you must have been near us then as we saw the collision between to 2 cars in front of us as well!
finc and dazed - I think there were 2 collisions in that race, cos the car we saw lost his bonnet, but Godders also saw another with a lost bonnet, but we never saw that one crash.

We were on the infield to the right of the aeroplane, at the Old Bridge, we sat in that area again today but right down the front by the fence, great view!

Me and Godders kept wondering how many mse'rs we'd walked past both days!!!

NOTE TO MARTIN: WE NEED MSE BADGES!!!!:rolleyes:

HI SAVVY I thought the Thai restaurant must have closed as we went round Castle Donnington twice. But never mind carried on out of CD on the back road and ended up at the big roundabout so missing all the traffic.

As our friends couldn't come at the last minute only had to please ourselves so waited until we got home and had a pizza (it has never tasted so good after being in the fresh (if dusty) air all day!!!

Looks like we were sitting near each other as well - shame we did not have badges like you have suggested.

Hope they run it again next year maybe we will meet up then.

    so did i!!
  • what an amazing day, we only could go today but it was great, we had a walk round and found a nice spot, we took the fold up camping chairs each(4of us). The parking was good getting in, once we went in i got my first freebie which was a radio with the renault logo on with batterys and headphones, i picked up a couple because i didnt know what they were at first, they were broadcasting a station caled renault radio. Behind where we sat at the top of the hill was quite a few food stands and shops. there was a car show room with a rennault shop which was full just about most of the time. also got a A5 poster a disc which i need to try and a leaflet. further round in there was a woman with a prize draw, i filled in a form and she gave me a big with leaflets in and a couple of car airfreshers. I also picked up a pen and a tax disc holder and bought a neck strap and a F1 silver car keyring. all the races were great, a few bumps as it was a corner, the clio's was a good race to watch aswell. getting out of the car park took us an hour and a hour to get home, but all in all a good day out, thankyou!!!!

i agree best post, should win the prize!!
Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time
  • Got back just now - exhausting and noisy but fun. Does anybody know what it cost to get in if you had to pay? There were thousands of people there - obviously a popular sport. I think it would be good if you knew something about the drivers and cars - we were clueless - the roar of those engines is really something though. Don't know whether I'd want to go again to something like that but it was a great day out for free!
