Booked with expedia - easyjet flights

Options
Just need some advice as I've just got back from a 3 nights break from Barcelona and I think I missed a 'trick' on the luggage.

I don't think I was 'tricked or scammed' but I cannot understand that when I paid for the flights I rightly or wrongly thought I'd get holding luggage for us both.

Had to paid on the way out and on the way in £16 and 22 Euros (took one 1 bag between both of us)

The reason I thought this would be inclu was because on the easyjet website it already has it prefilled at £32

Has anyone else had this happen to them or have I completely misunderstood the luggage thing :p

Ay x

    :hello:
  • You do have to pay extra for luggage with Easyjet like many others (Thomascook, Ryanair etc), it is normally straightforward and their website is relatively user friendly, think you must have unticked a box somewhere along the way.

Yes, I have just experienced exactly the same thing with expedia/easyjet - £64 for two bags return. I am always pretty aware of these things when booking so cannot see how I missed the option (if it was there at all). There is no mention of luggage or baggage allowances or that I had not booked them or needed to book them separately on my expedia itinery or in the confirmation e-mail they send - in fact the only place the word "baggage" appears in the confirmation email or itinerary is in the following paragraph "Please note: Airlines strictly adhere to baggage weight allowances and may charge you for any overweight baggage at check-in. Since baggage allowance limits vary by carrier, we recommend you call your carrier or Expedia with any additional questions about overweight baggage."

I am also about to complain to Expedia over their website and the misleading way it sells easyject flights.

Like you we were charged £64 on flights to Paris for 2 bags. NOWHERE in any terms and conditions do Expedia mention you will be charged for luggage. Had we booked via Easyjet the baggage fee would have been apparent. Expedia fail to mention it totally.

I shall get my £64 back if I have to go to small claims to do it!

    **edited to add**

Since we finalised and booked this on the 5th July Expedia have now added a large symbol declaring "Baggage Charges May Apply". This was not there on booking. The policy states charges are from 4 to 10 Euros which is still a lot less than we were actually charged.
Im currently trying to find a cache of the original booking pages....

We booked a holiday to Portugal with Expedia in June and were told at the Easyjet check in that Expedia had not payed for our baggage. Easyjet said that Expedia must have unchecked the box that includes the baggage cost. Obviously Expedia are doing this to make their holiday appear cheaper, and we were saddled with a £64 bill to take our bags with us. If we could have condensed our luggage into smaller bags we could have taken this as hand baggage for free. There was nothing in the Expedia paperwork to suggest that the baggage was not included. This simply appears to be a con. I will be complaining to Expedia and will take the matter to the small claims court if they are not prepared to re-emburse. Judging from the posts here we are not the only one's to be caught. Maybe a class action ?.

23/7/09 Following my complaint Expedia have emailed me to apologize and are going to refund the £64 + a £50 holiday voucher. This does suggest that Expedia do take complaints seriously and are prepared to "do the right thing". Full marks to them for that. Expedia say they are going to update their website with regard to baggage.
