Just had a very bad experience with Yell....

They sent a letter to our old postal address, asking us to contact them to confirm details for our free listing. The letter was forwarded to our new address.

I phoned them to say that we do not want any listings, free or otherwise and kindly asked that they remove our details from their system. I explained that the address was incorrect anyway.

The rep on the phone said that they would have it removed but then asked me what services the company offerered. I asked why she would ask me that question if she was about to remove our details. She said "oh its just for my reference". So I just said ok we are an I.T company and left it at that.

I got a call just now from a rep at Yell asking for me by name. (I hadnt given my name to the other rep before). She said "I understand that you have just signed up for your free listing".

    I was totally gobsmacked.

I said - "er no. I specifically asked that all details you hold about my company to be removed from your system".

She said "oh right ok then, I can give you a number to call to have the listing removed."

I said "I'm not calling anyone. take this as my second official request to have all details removed. If you dont remove the info as soon as possible there will be trouble."

She said "Ok sir I will make sure that is added to the notes - there-will-be- trouble."

I hung up, I was so angry!

    What a bunch of A**holes!

Just had a call from Yell.

Couldn't understand all of what he said as he had a forgein accent but worse still he couldn't understand me!

He did say my free years listing was ending and did I want to continue.
After repeating myself several times he eventually answered my question concerning whether this would still be free.

He said it would 'only' be £400 !
I said I was not prepared to pay anything and he insisted that in that case I would need to fill in a cancelation form by fax.
After having to again repeatedly tell him I had no fax machine, he said he would 'try' to post one.

I will just have to see what happens next.
