Selling iPhone :(

As I'm short of cash, I'm thinking about selling my iPhone 3G but I still have about 9 months left on the contract. I'm wondering if it's possible to sell the handset, and as I have to keep the contract, can I buy a cheap PAYG handset and use that with my iPhone O2 SIM? Also as I get unlimited internet/email included in my tarrif, would that still be available if I used another, cheaper handset?

The contract is tied to the sim that you use, so regardless of the phone it's in everything that was included still will be.

Sorry to hear about the forced sale though, painful indeed.

Also remember after you have been in contract 9 mths with O2 you can downgrade your tariff. (With iPhones you can only down grade to another iPhone tariff)

That might save you a few quid also

I did a similar thing on PAYG where you get 12 months Web&Wifi free, and after a month and a few reminders the unlimited Web&WiFi was removed from my account, they said that only iPhones are eligible for the unlimited add-on. Would assume it is the same on pay monthly.

I assume they check your phone's IMEI.

I had to add the O2 Web Bolt-On instead which cost me £7.50 a month, although I did complain (groundlessly I guess!) and got a month of it free.
