car hire in Nice - any advice?

We are flying to Nice in August and need to hire a car for two weeks, we need a six-seater and will be staying in Italy (just over the border). Has anyone got advice on which car hire company to use, whether to book ahead, etc etc. All advice welcome.

You need to book ahead, a very popular airport.
Do a search at www.travelsupermarket.com www.carrentals.co.uk to find prices.
Nice has two terminals, the car hire might be cheaper at the other terminal, so compare both of them, a bit of inconvenience may save a lot of money.
Check the small print, some brokers/companies might not allow driving the car from France to Monaco and Italy.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I would definitely book ahead. If you were going to walk up at Nice Airport you'd probably have to pay a lot more. Plus you need a large car which won't necessarily be immediately available if you don't book in advance. Use price comparison sites then check if you can get cashback on the best offers. Also make sure you can take the car over the border. Shouldn't really be a problem as many people will land at Nice for the Italian Riviera.0
