Hi there, great idea, a friend did that for me and I loved it. She got me some of those individual sachets of face masks, foot scrubs etc I think the make is montanjeunesse if you know what I mean, 99p each. Also a mini champagne like you said, a small box of 4 ferrero rocher, a couple of sachets of luxury hot chocolate, a nice hand cream, mini-magnet photo frames to go on the fridge of new baby! A home-made voucher for a nights babysitting, bubble bath, and a lovely pair of slippers. If Life Deals You a Lemon - Make Lemonade!! :j0

ok! i had my last child in December 2008. I loved the following gifts (ppl learned from my last child and bought for me rather than baby as we where so organised and had everything by the time i was 6 months!)...
i got a silver necklace from my best mate - not expensive but she presented it to me when i was in hospital and said it was from baby and 'aunty' to say thank you and well done. It was wonderful!
I also got a voucher for my nails done that was valid for 9months, so i treated myself once we had got into a routine.
Also, boots etc do 'mummy kits' with lavender etc in it so mum and baby can bathe together. Great for bonding, sleeping etc
And, i was also given a picture of me and oh that was taken not long after we found out we where expecting.. all framed with a little card that said 'just as you knew i was here'
Also, PJs but a size bigger than she is now, then when she has had lo she has some lovely pj's to relax in when visitors come. there was nothing worse than being sat in maternity pj's that where too big, or trying to squeeze into my pre preg ones!
They where all wonderful. If its your best mate the necklace would be great. Mine was a little heart shaped one locket type thing so i have a pic of baby and best mate in it - i never usually wear jewellery but this is soo special i never take it off!
congrats to your friend, its all sooo exciting!!!0 -

I got one of my friends an aromatherapy bath kit and some candles - she said she loved it as she loves baths anyway but you arent supposed to used aromatherapy oils while you are pregnant so she had something just for her when LO was born. she tells me its the only time she gets some 'me' time which is quite precious when you have kids (so i'm told - I dont have any yet!)0

How about vouchers for a spa treatment sometime after the baby has been born? Something you could both share together (plus she could enjoy the bubbly more haha)

No champagne, nil alcohol is recommended during pregnancy, and if she's breastfeeding it will upset LO,
however...
