I got my cake as a wedding present as I wasn't planning on having a cake (my grandma said you couldnt get married and not have a cake so she brought it). It was lovely just a small round one from a local bakers with pretty white flowers on. No idea what it cost, but it was arranged in 9 days. Would someone buy you one?0

I went to a local bakers had a top tier made sponge cost £12 then had cup cakes underneath from m&s as I ran out of time or would have made them myself it cost next to nothing compared to other cakes. If I could figure out how to attach an image I would show you lol0

At the risk of sounding like a massive cheapskate, could you or a family member maybe make the cake yourself? That way you can tailor it to what you want.
This recipe for a three tier red velvet cake (basically a chocolate cake but coloured red) might be a good jumping off point: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/three-tier_red_velvet_17795"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I'd had M&S recommended, but we found a local cake maker, and had cupcakes.
They worked out so much cheaper in the end- think was around 50p a cake when I worked it out- and had in chocolate, sponge, and raspberry. They were stunning to look at, each had a design on it, and were so tasty. Still have 2 dozen in my freezer. She even made a small cake for the evening as a freebie.0 -
I did my brother's cake for his wedding on Christmas eve.
I purchased two sponge cakes from M&S (had to be sponge as youngest has a nut allergy)from their wedding cake range for £37 - large and medium, then got satin ribbon, cake toppers and miniature roses from Ebay and it all came out to be less than £50.
I'm not skilled, not artistic but they looked really nice on the day.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

We had muffins from Waitrose, luckily we went to collect them the day before as they'd forgotten to order them, they did deliver them for free on the morning of the wedding though (and didn't charge us for them) with a complimentary bottle of champagne
We then had a small chocolate cake on the top tier and our cake toppers were Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann figures
