    Hi
Which ip are you with, its probably traffic shaping, which a lot of isp use these days, they throttle your download speeds if your using p2p sites.

    Hope this helps
  • I'm on tesco on an unlimited package and they don't restrict the speed for p2p, they use NTL's network so I'm guessing NTL is the same.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Yeah I use telewest and it can go quite quick, 150kbps, depends on the torrent. I use azureus.sourceforge.net which allows you to change the port the torrent uses, which may get round any ISP restrictions.

Pipex DO throttle P2P now @ 20kbps. Obvious it was gonna happen!

Look into newsgroups, u'll never go back to torrents ever again.

    Things needed:-

ISP that supports newsgroups or supernews (news/nntp.'ISP name'.com/net/co.uk)

Then you need a Binary leecher such as:-

    http://www.newsleecher.com/

Then you need a subscription package to download .NZB's (newsleecher files)

http://www.newzbin.com/ (min subscription of £2 for 8 weeks)

Then you can download at full speed with much more piece of mind!

I'm on 4Meg Telepest and heres my download speed (constant speed too)

Bandwidth: (Current Downstream: 505.44kb/s ¤ Current Upstream: 13.28kb/s)

plus.net have stopped supporting binary newsgroups and I would expect others to follow :(

Why not use a free download manager I had to download Photo Impact 11 the other day and it was going to take 3hrs as it was off their uleads ftp site and that is so slow, its a nightmare so I used http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ and it cut the download time to 20mins on a 2meg connection, now if thats not speeding things up I dunno what is.
